To enhance their general intellectual capacity for life-long learning, through developing their capacities in economic analysis, so that they possess the skills necessary for reasoning about issues and making rational choices. To participate as informed and responsible citizens in the decision-making processes of a modern democratic society.

Curriculum Content

To enrich students’ learning experiences and unleash their fullest potential, A-School offers both English and Cantonese as the Medium of Instruction (MOI) for Liberal Arts (transitioning to Citizenship, Economics and Society [CES] starting from 2026–2027) and Liberal Studies (which transitioned to Citizenship and Social Development [CS] in 2021–2022). Students may apply at the end of each academic year. Applicants who pass the enrollment test can enroll in the English-medium CES/CS class for the following academic year.

G9 Curriculum

Part of the G10 Economics curriculum is embedded in the subject Business Fundamentals. This provides students with an opportunity to grasp a basic understanding of the subject before their subject selection. The following basic but important economic concepts will be introduced:

Senior Grade Curriculum

Apart from the HKDSE curriculum, our school also provides alternative pathways for students to choose from if they wish to advance their studies overseas. Students can take the IGCSE Economics (0455) top-up programme in G10 and choose to study International Advanced Level Economics in G11 – G12. In G10, all students will study the integrated curriculum of Economics. Common elements of the HKDSE and the IGCSE curriculums will be covered in G10.
