Integrated Science

Overview

Integrated Science focuses on developing students’ scientific habits of mind and skills of inquiry and design. Through experiments and hands-on activities, students learn scientific concepts and processes in addition to developing generic skills.

In the lesson, students will

  • engage in the process of inquiry and design;
  • conduct hands-on investigation and learning activities;
  • acquire and apply scientific and technological concepts;
  • develop a serious attitude towards science and technology in connection to our dynamic society.

Highlights

Curriculum Framework

We use the Cambridge Primary Science Curriculum, which is related to the National Curriculum for England. It provides a comprehensive set of learning objectives that describes what students should know and can achieve in primary science education.

Science in Context diagram showing Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth and Space, and Thinking and Working Scientifically
  • Biology – living things and how they interact
  • Chemistry – the study of matter
  • Physics – the interaction of matter and energy
  • Earth and Space – planets, Earth, the wider Solar System, and beyond
  • Thinking and Working Scientifically – develops understanding and skills of scientific models and representations, scientific inquiry and practical work
  • Science in Context – helps teachers demonstrate the relevance of science to learners and is unique to our science curriculum

Subject week

Our science curriculum is enriched by dedicated subject weeks. The theme-based subject weeks are specifically designed to promote the fun, interactive side of science outside classrooms and laboratories.

Flexible learning spaces

Our team has intentionally redesigned various campus areas to foster student-centered, active, and collaborative learning. Skyline garden, Solomon’s Hall and Innovatarium, and the Endangered Species Museum can serve as the classroom for our science lessons.
